William Cronon

William Cronon is the Frederick Jackson Turner and Vilas Research Professor of History, Geography, and Environmental Studies at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. In addition, he serves as the director of the Center for Culture, History, and Environment at the university's Gaylord Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies. His book Nature's Metropolis: Chicago and the Great West won the 1992 Bancroft Prize and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for History.
