Jeff Semple

Jeff Semple is an award-winning host and senior reporter with Global News, a Canadian news broadcaster. Jeff is one of Canada's top international journalists. He has reported from more than forty countries, including the frontlines of the war in Ukraine, the fight against ISIS in Iraq, and the United Nations' deadliest mission in Mali. He's reported from the top of the world, sailing through the Arctic Ocean aboard a Royal Canadian Navy Icebreaker. And he's filed from the biggest stage in sports, covering the Olympic Games in Russia, Brazil, and South Korea. From the very first days of the COVID-19 pandemic, Jeff reported from inside overwhelmed hospitals in both Canada and the United States. His stories have appeared internationally on the BBC, CNN, Sky News, NPR, and ABC. Jeff is also the host of China Rising and Russia Rising, which was the #1 podcast in Canada on iTunes in 2019 and named one of Apple's "Top Podcasts of the Year." Jeff lives in Toronto with his wife and daughter. He is an avid drummer and is constantly resisting the urge to tap and drum on just about everything.
