Sean Bassett

Sean Bassett grew up in the Bay Area, excelling in football, baseball, and basketball in high school, as well as playing lead guitar in band. Sean loved the ocean and worked as a lifeguard every summer. Always interested in writing and poetry, Sean graduated high school and went on to major in American literature in college, in Boston. He continued playing in several bands during those years: funk bands, rock bands, Blues bands, even trying his hand in a jazz combo. Not blessed with family money, Sean needed his music to work his way through those lean school years. His love of the "gravel and cut glass" sounds of Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Ray Charles, Greg Allman, and Joe Cocker led him to share in the singing duties in songs that lent themselves to that kind of story-tellin'. Sean was delighted to find out he could earn pretty good money for a college kid doing what he loved. Later, he decided to stick with it. After graduation, he focused in on his funky, original blues band, and with a partner, began moving around from city to city playing the "college circuit" and small venues. He proudly has been to forty-eight states in the USA.

Sean's artistic spirit is varied, and while in college, he also took some acting classes. After several years on the road with his band, and then hooking up with another, Sean decided to stay in New York City for a while. He bartended while studying acting at several studios, and always continued his first love: playing guitar for a variety of gigs. Eventually, acting led him from New York City to give it a try in Los Angeles in 2004. Sean's deep voice caught the attention of the leader of the "Loop Group" that recorded background voices for feature films—and Sean Bassett's voice-over career was born. He quickly got a voice-over agent, started doing commercial voice-over jobs, excelling in "sound alike," and of course, audiobooks. When not working, Sean still plays music, now writing original songs for his current blues band. He thrives in his organized flag-football league every weekend, and competes in a men's basketball league in Hollywood. Sean is single, lives steps from the ocean, swims, and runs the beach every day with his dog, "Rocket."
