John Charles Chasteen

John Charles Chasteen is professor of history at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is the highly acclaimed translator of Tulio Halperín Donghi's The Contemporary History of Latin America. He is also the author of Heroes on Horseback: The Life and Times of the Last Gaucho Caudillos, National Rhythms, African Roots: The Deep History of Latin American Popular Dance, and Americanos: Latin America's Struggle for Independence.
