Lawrence Anthony

Lawrence Anthony (1950–2012) was an international conservationist, explorer, and adventurer. An acknowledged African wildlife expert, his personal focus was the African elephant. Lawrence was the long-standing head of conservation at the Thula Thula game reserve in Zululand, South Africa, and the founder of the Earth Organization, an independent, international conservation and environmental group with a strong scientific orientation. He was a member of the esteemed Explorers Club of New York as well as the National Council of the South African Association for the Advancement of Science. Details of his conservation activities have appeared regularly in the media and have been featured in such magazines and journals as Reader's Digest, Smithsonian, Africa Geographic, Men's Journal, Shape magazine, and Elle magazine. He is also coauthor, with Graham Spence, of Babylon's Ark and The Last Rhinos.
